This course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course.
Event Details
Day 1: 8 AM - 6 PMDay 2: 8 AM - 7 PM
The course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training (BIT), and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises.
The first day is the NRA's Basic Instructor Training (BIT). This segment covers:

The second day is the NRA Discipline-Specific Instructor Training, Pistol Instructor. This segment covers:
Introduction to NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Phase II Lesson Plans
Teaching Pistol Exercise I: Firearm and Range Safety Review
Teaching Pistol Exercise II: Fundamentals
Basic Pistol Shooting Instructional Method
Teaching Pistol Exercise III: Loading, Cocking, De-cocking, Unloading,
and Pistol Maintenance
Teaching Pistol Exercise IV: Shooting Positions and Shooting
Qualification
Evaluating and Improving Performance of Beginning Pistol Shooters
Using Appendix D and E: NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course
Evaluation and Performance Requirements Checklist and Pistol Instructor
Examination and Course Conclusion
Each of the two segments has an open book examination that requires a score of 90% or above.

These are small, intimate classes taught by a husband and wife team—both former law enforcement officers, mature professionals with substantial firearms experience. Classes are conducted at our dedicated training facility with onsite range. Maximum of 10 students.
